We are narrating the story of Hazrat Maryam (e.s.) as told in Surah Aal-Imran. This is Part 3.

Disclaimer: We will only talk about what Quran tells us, and the scope is Surah Aal-imran. There are multiple places where Hazrat Maryam (e.s.) is mentioned, yet we will stick to this particular Surah.

(Continuing from part 2)

In the last part, we saw that despite being a girl, Hazrat Hanna (e.s.) took Hazrat Maryam (e.s.) to Solomon’s Temple as she had pledged to Allah.

Being the only girl child there, it was important that there be a guardian over little Maryam.

All the teachers and elders at the Solomon’s Temple wanted to take Maryam (e.s.) Under their guardianship. This was because Hazrat Maryam’s father, Hazrat Imran (e.s.) was a high priest at the temple during his life. So, to honor his legacy and his family, each was eager to take guardianship of his daughter.

One of the high priests in Solomon’s Temple was Hazrat Zakariya (e.s.). He was also the maternal uncle (Khaloo) Of Hazrat Maryam. Due to family ties also, he wanted to be the one who was give the role of little Maryam’s (e.s.) guardian. But the other teachers and high priests argued that each should be given an equal chance to contest for this role.

Allah azzawajall says in Surah Aal-Imran, ayat 44,

”That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. And you were not with them when they cast their pens as to which of them should be responsible for Maryam. Nor were you with them when they disputed.”

As a result of this argument, everyone at Solomon’s Temple decided to participate in a lucky draw to see who Allah has chosen for Maryam’s guardianship.

They took their pens, with which they used to write Torah, and went up River Jordan. The idea was that they will all place their pens on running water. The person whose pen will not move with the water current will be considered as the chosen one for little Maryam’s guardianship.

When all the teachers and high priests placed their pens in running water, everyone’s pen floated away with running water, except Hazrat Zakariya’s (e.s.) pen. It didn’t stop in the running water, instead, Zakariya’s pen started floating against the water current!

And so, it was decided that Hazrat Zakariya (e.s.), who was also little Maryam’s maternal uncle, would have her guardianship. He will teach her Torah and religion and he will care for her as a guardian should.

In this way, Allah brought little Hazrat Maryam (e.s.) to a place where she will grow up in a sacred and pious surrounding. Allah azzawajall gifted her with Zakariya (e.s.) as her guardian, who was also a messenger of the time. In this way, little Maryam’s was nurtured with rizq for the body and for her soul. She was given the best upbringing and was taught the best values.

All praise to Allah, who caters to our each and every need in the best way.

When Hazrat Zakariya (e.s.) took little Maryam’s guardianship, he had a chance to watch this wonderful child grow. As she grew, it was very evident to Zakariya that there was something very special about this young girl. But what was it?

What did we learn?

• Hazrat Zakariya (e.s.) was Hazrat Maryam’s (e.s.) maternal uncle.

• Everyone at the Solomon’s Temple wanted guardianship of little Maryam.

• All the teachers and priests placed their pens in River Jordan as a form of lucky draw. The person whose pen will not float away in the water current will win.

• Hazrat Zakariya (e.s.) won little Maryam’s guardianship; his pen not only stayed in the water, but started floating opposite the flow of water!

[۱۱ رمضان[ رمضان سیریز ۲۰۱۹ کے گیارہویں دن خوش آمدید۔

ہم مریمؑ کی کہانی کا سورہ آلِ عمران کے حوالے سے بیان کررہے ہیں۔ یہ اس کا تیسرا حصّہ ہے۔

انتباہ: ہم قرآن کے حوالے سے صرف سورہ آلِ عمران میں موجود ذکر کریں گے۔ غو کہ مریمؑ کا ذکر متعدد بار ہوا ہے قرآن میں مگر ہم اس خاص سورہ کے حوالے سے ہی بات کریں گے۔

گزشتہ حصّے میں ہم نے دیکھا کہ لڑکی ہونے کے باوجود حضرت حنّہؑ اپنے عہد کے مطابق حضرت مریم کو سلیمانی مندر لے کر گئیں۔

واحد لڑکی ہونے کی وجہ سے یہ ضروری تھا کہ اُس جگہ کوئی مرد موجود ہوتا ننھی پریم کی حفاظت کے لیے۔

مندر میں موجود تمام اساتذہ اور بزرگ مریمؑ کی کفالت اپنے ذمہ لینا چاہتے تھے کیوں کہ وہ حضرت عمران ؑ کی بیٹی تھیں جو کہ اس مندر کے سب سے افضل پادری تھے۔ اس لحظ سے مریمؑ کی کفالت ہر کسی کے لیے قابلِ اعزاز تھی۔

اس مندر کے ایک اور عظیم پادری حضرت ذکریاؑ تھے جو کہ مریمؑ کے خالو بھی تھے۔ اس رشتے کے لحاظ سے انہوںنے چاہا کہ یہ ذمہ داری انہیں سونپی جائے مگر کافی بحث مباحثے کے بعد طے پایا کہ اس اہم کام میں سب کو برابر کا موقع دیا جائے گا۔

اللہ سورہ آلِ عمران آیت نمبر ۴۴ میں فرماتا ہے:

(اے محمدﷺ) یہ باتیں اخبار غیب میں سے ہیں جو ہم تمہارے پاس بھیجتے ہیں اور جب وہ لوگ اپنے قلم (بطور قرعہ) ڈال رہے تھے کہ مریم کا متکفل کون بنے تو تم ان کے پاس نہیں تھے اور نہ اس وقت ہی ان کے پاس تھے جب وہ آپس میں جھگڑ رہے تھے ﴿۴۴﴾

اس بحث کے نتیجے میں سب نے یہ فیصلہ کیا کہ قرعہ اندازی سے مریمؑ کے لیے کفیل منتخب کیا جائے۔

وہ سب اپنے قلم لے کر کہ جس سے وہ تورات لکھتے تھے؛ دریائے اُردن پہنچے ۔ خیال یہ تھا کہ سب اپنے قلم پانی میں ڈالیں گے اور جس کا قلم پان کے بہاؤ کے ساتھ کھڑا رہا اُسے پریمؑ کا کفیل منتخب کیا جائے گا۔

جب سب نے اپنے قلم پانی میں ڈالے تو وہ سب بہہ گئے ۔ جبکہ زکریاؑ کا قلم نا صرف پانی کے اوپر رہا بلکہ پانی کے بہاؤ کے اخالف سمت میں تیرنے لگا۔

اور یہ طے ہوگیا کہ حضرت ذکریا ؑ جو کہ رشتے میں خالو بھی تھے نا صرف مریمؑ کی کفالت کریں گے بلکہ انہیں تورات اور دیگر دینی علوم بھی سکھائیں گے۔

اس طرح خدا نے یہ بندوبست کیا کہ مریم ؑ کی پرورش ایک پاک اور معتبر جگہ میں ہو۔ خدا نے تحفے کے طور پر مریمؑ کو ذکریا ؑ کا ساتھ کفیل کے طور پر دیا جو کہ وقتِ حاضر کے پیغمبر بھی تھے۔ اس طرح مریمؑ کی نا صرف جسمانی بلکہ روحانی نشونما بھی ہوئی۔ اُنہیں بہترین تربیت اور اخلاق و اقدار سکھائے گئے۔

تمام تعریفیں اللہ کے لیے ہے کہ جو ہماری ضرورتوں کو بہتر انداز میں پورا کرتا ہے۔

جب حضرت ذکریاؑ نے مریم ؑ کی کفالت لی تو انہیں بہترین موقع مل گیا اس عظیم بچی کو پروان چڑھتے دیکھنے کا۔ آپؑ محسوس کر سکتے تھے کہ اس بچی میں کچھ خاص ہے، مگر کیا؟

جاری ہے۔۔

ہم نے کیا سیکھا؟

· حضرت ذکریاؑ حضرت مریمؑ کے خالو تھے۔

· سلیمانی مندر میں ہر کوئی مریمؑ کی کفالت کرنا چاہتا تھا۔

· تمام اساتذہ نے اپنے قلم دریائے اُردن میں قرعہ اندازی کے لیے ڈالے، جس کا قلم پانی کے بہاؤ کے ساتھ بہتا رہا وہ فاتح قرار پایا۔

· حضرت ذکریاؑ کو مریمؑ کا کفیل بنایا گیا، ان کا قلم نا صرف پانی کی سطح پر رہا بلکہ پانی کے بہاؤ کے مخالف سمت میں بہتا رہا۔
