It's not a reward that we allow yourselves only after we've done every possible chore for the day. Or when we're on the verge of collapse. Adequate rest is a need that we must fulfill on a daily basis. For ourselves and for those around us.
If we wait for our house to be in perfect order and everything checked off on our to-do list to be able to have some downtime with family, it would probably never happen. Especially in the season of life with small kids.

Sure, our living spaces should be a certain level of organised and a certain level of clean. But years down the lane, do we want to remember our life as always doing 'ghar kay kaam' at the expense of never actually sitting down with ghar walay?
Especially looking at moms who have young kids tugging at their shirts, making 'mama play with me' requests.
The toddler looking at you to play racing cars. The preschooler wanting to do puzzles together. The kindergartener holding out a board game.
If our default response to those requests is always 'I don't have time, I've got work to do' - what's the message we're giving out?
What's the priority?
.
Rest isn't 'unproductive'. Sitting down and enjoying some hearty laughs with our loved ones is a way of recharging ourselves.
Years down the lane, it wouldn't matter if the beds weren't made on some days. If the kitchen counters weren't tidied up every night. If the closets weren't always organised.
Our kids will remember the time we spent huddled together.
The books we read.
The games we played.
The conversations we had.
It's a choice we have to make every day.
Prioritise those requests. Play hide and seek. Make up silly pretend games. Get those cuddles in for no reason.
Cut yourself some slack.
Drop some balls.
Our children,
The children we chose to bring to this world, should get the best of us.
Not the rest of us.

Ask yourself, are your current habits helping you or jeopardising your health, performance, finances, or relationships?

Make a list of your bad habits, change them with successful habits, change the routine, make an action plan and take action!

Since it got published a couple of days ago, I’m asking myself how I feel. There are days when the imposter syndrome kicks in and I say, what did I do to deserve this. But there are three things I want to list down, that might have contributed to getting here:

1. Doing the hard thing.
2. Believing in myself when I was the most insecure.
3. To give a 100%.

Whoever said being recognized doesn’t count, let me tell you, it’s like shan ka Masala on your peekhi Biryani!

Cheers to everyone stuck in a rut.
Cheers to you if you are working hard.
Cheers if you have a dream.
Cheers if you have everyone against you.
Cheers if you still believe in yourself.
